To mark the 16-Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, UNITAMS Police Advisory Unit organized several activities to enhance Sudanese police capacities on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
On 27 November 2022, a one-day training on investigation and management of SGBV cases was carried out in Nyala, South Darfur with the participation of 60 female Sudanese Police Force (SPF) officers.
The training aimed at enhancing the SPF's capacity to effectively respond to the sexual and gender-based violence and conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) acknowledging the vital role that female police officers can play in addressing the issue.
In Central Darfur, on 1 December, UNITAMS Police conducted an advisory session for four Family and Child Protection Officers in Zalingei and raised police officers' awareness on gender-based violence and on strategies to respond to the associated crimes and challenges.
Building the capacities of the national police programs in prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence and conflict-related sexual violence are at the core of UNITAMS Police Advisory Unit mandate.
