On August 9, Russian Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received Egyptian Charge d'Affaires ad interim in Russia Shadi Al-Sharqawi.

During their conversation, the officials discussed practical aspects of the bilateral agenda, including Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry's forthcoming visit to Moscow.

They also exchanged opinions on a number of topical regional issues, focusing on the situation in Libya and prospects for a settlement in the Middle East.
