On June 29, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov met with Mohammed al-Deri, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Tobruk-based interim government of Libya, at the Foreign Ministry building in Moscow.
An in-depth exchange of opinions took place on developments in Libya with an emphasis on the importance of launching, as soon as possible, an inclusive intra-Libyan dialogue involving all main political forces, tribal groups and regions of the country.
The Russian side reaffirmed its readiness to help promote the political process in Libya in search of mutually acceptable solutions in order to ensure conditions for Libya's sustainable development as a single, sovereign and independent state.
The diplomats also touched upon some practical aspects of Russian-Libyan relations, given the mutual willingness to restore effective bilateral ties in traditional areas of cooperation as the situation in Libya normalises.
