The Department of Trade and Industry Together with UNCTAD and UNDP to Host a Media Briefing on South Africa's Draft Intellectual Property Policy

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) together with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will host a media briefing on South Africa's Draft Intellectual Property (IP) Policy:

Date: 27 October 2017
Time: 13:30
Venue: Sheraton Hotel, 643 Stanza Bopape Street, Arcadia

The briefing follows a workshop that took place from 25-27 October 2017 and discussed the Draft IP Policy. Draft IP Policy is a crucial document in government's efforts to advance South Africa's developmental and industrialisation objectives. The platform brought together representatives from the Inter-Ministerial Committee on IP (IMCIP), the United Nations, industry, civil society, the judiciary, academia, and the National Assembly.

Earlier this week, Fix The Patent Laws coalition marched to the Department of Trade and Industry campus in Pretoria in support of the Draft Intellectual Property Policy. Recipient of the Noble Memorial Price in Economics Sciences and the John Bates Clark Medal, Professor Joseph Stiglitz has also voiced support of the Policy.

RSVPs should be forwarded to Mamosa Dikeledi via telephone on 076 023 4170 or e-mail: MDikeledi@thedti.gov.za
